NWA... 1815 annual calendar

Very excited to add my first Lange. I have always been attracted to their style , and I love that they go a little extra with finishing. PP for example has left this behind at this price point (but also makes 10x the number of watches) .

I have always wanted a watch with a moonphase, not necessarily a perpetual or calendar. While that would lead most to the lange 1 MP, I did not like that it has to constantly be set by pin pusher. For me the best thing with the AC is that I can set everything, and whenever I put it on I push the single corrector to advance everything. What a great feature. The only time I need to adjust is end of February. I love the MP disc here as well with the star flourishments and beautiful sky. This works better for me than the saxonia annual calendar (did not enjoy the MP disc as much and didn't like a centrally located big date for single digits days).

Manual wind works perfectly as I love manual wind watches, and I will wear usually on weekend. Wind it up, push the pusher a few times, 72g h PR so set for the weekend. The MP is gold disc and 'perpetual ' moonphase I believe it's called - accurate to 122 years. The thick Arabic numerals, railroad track minutes, blue hands and flourishments at the quarters I much enjoy.

Lovely WG case at 40mm x 10mm is perfect for me, and that classical lange style is great. I like the texture on the dial, but will say matte silver dial is not the most dynamic (would love lacquer or enamel here - but I would always say that ), however, it fits within the teutonic nature.

A big complaint here is the date dial, I admit not super easy to see. It doesn't matter to me much as I don't mind looking closely at the watch if needed. Also my JLC master geographic has same date indication and size and doesn't seem to get as much complaint. I will say if the subdial hands were arranged differently, maybe the day of the week being shorter, it would differentiate from the date, or being blued (white gold hands on silver dial not best contrast).

I also don't love the annual calendar script. I get that it adds balance (and they have perpetual calendar script on some other refs), but would rather this be a PR or 24h dial. Ideally for legibility this should be the date side and maybe could be optimized for better readability.

Overall very excited, and looking forward to becoming more in tuned with this piece. I will get a strap for it, maybe a cobalt blue. These pictures from when I received the watch which was locked away while on vacation.

I need to take better movement photos!
