Omega ref 2242: twins separated at birth . . .

. . . in Bienne over seventy years ago . . .

. . . and reunited in SoCal just recently.

Some of you will be familiar with one of my latest additions, a ref 2242 . . .

. . . produced for the Brazilian agent in '44 with the uncommon 18 jewel variant of the 30T2SC movement.  Imagine my surprise when a similar 2242 surfaced on eBay recently.

Keen observers will have noticed the arrow-tip seconds hand, which is correct for this reference.

I had to have it.

So I placed a bid a week before the hammer was set to go down.  When it got down to the last hour of the auction, I started comparing my Brazilian issue with the variant in Australia.

Case backs: Brazil . . .

. . . vs Australia.

Separated by two digits, 10415324 vs 10415236.
