Perpetual Calendars - Questions!

Hi everyone,

Hopefully this question is posted in the right place and the answer isn't so strikingly obvious that I look like a complete idiot...

Ok, so i've been reading about Moon Phase calendars, Perpetual Calendars (are these just annual calendars that include moonphase?) and Annual Calendars.....

Now it's clear (as illustrated by the material I was reading) that a moon phase sequence is something like 28.5 days and that different watch brands can promise accuracy for anything between 110-1100 years based on this but it's fundamental the owner constantly keeps the watch going.

Now my first question in which another is encompassed would be:

1. When I see the watches in a shop they aren't moving... so surely they already inaccurate? - Or does a watch engineer "tweak" them pre-sale (is this even possible? - plausibly yes, but what level of skill is required, surely it must be extremely difficult?!)

2. Does one always have to return the watch to an AD to have it "repaired" if you let it stop?

Any help (enlightenment) is most appreciated,

Chris
