Question on Royal Oak dial
Good day all,
I have a AP Royal Oak bought at an AD in Geneva in 1976 and the dial has some marks of "rust". The watch is with AP right now for a full service, change of all the seals, polishing etc. I asked AP if during the overhauled they could change the dial as they cannot repair it. Today I have received the news that they do not have the original dial with the "AP" at six O'clock but only the one with the "AP" at 12 O'clock. My question is, should I have the dial changed and would the change affect negatively the value of the watch?
Thank you for your comments.
Francois

I would keep the original dial as the patina you mention (not really rust right?) may be considered very attractive to many of us. If the original dial has merely a cosmetic problem and nothing to impair the operation of the watch, I would keep it ON the ...

I would keep the dial as is with the rust, trust me its very attractive that way to some collectors (like myself) and a sign that it has been through life and is flawed just like us, I find that very endearing, Here is my watch from 72 (A series) with a f...
