Rolex Explorer II 16550, Panna, Rail Dial.
Just because I damn love this reference, which is transitional, with the 16660, the 16750 / 16760, and 16800 / 168000.
In fact, I like all the transitional references mentioned above, with a big soft spot for the Triple 6 and the 16550, closely followed by the 16 760 for its thick case.
But the 16550 Cream is really special.
Subtle, intriguing, charming.

The cream dial is very nice indeed.
But even more so are the figures to the right of your awesome wrist shot!

Hi Nicholas, Yes, I bought it directly from the AD in 1986 and it was white, but some years after it started to become cream. I was a little disappointed first and I wanted to bring it to Rolex to have my dial changed, but luckily did not. ...
