Seeking Advice...to buy or not
Came across this IWC today....looks really handsome but am not sure about its authenticity.
I really like it and want to get it but am hesitant for the following reasons;
1) The dial reminds me of the Mark XII but the case design seems to be that of a Portofino.
2) The patina on the hands and the markers are not consistent. Is this possible.
3) The brand name combination on the dial ("IWC" and "International Watch Co."), is it correct to have both printed on the dial? I always thought it was one or the other. And the only examples of having both are those with IWC letters applied.
Anyone got any opinions or thoughts about this watch? Is it real? Appreciate any thoughts on this.

There was such a Portofino made
in the nineties. The military style dial and hands are legit. From the photos it appears to be original, though I can't say so with certainty without seeing it in person. - SJX

IWC did make that model. Whether yours is genuine I can't tell you with certainty, but I don't see any obvious problem.
If you like it, buy it.
Beautiful. It looks ok to me. It has also a beautiful patina, delicious. If the price is fair, go for it. I guess the patina is only on the main indexes because of the tritium, the numbers are just painted. Vte
I really do like it
...and the best thing is the seller agreed for me to have a week of wrist -trial with it before paying for it. I suppose this is even more dangerous to my wallet : ) the more i look at it the more handsome it is. Am running a test to see how it keeps time...

as the signs of aging on the dial (e.g. lume, etc,) appear consistent.

... That design does have a following among enthusiasts. For me, at least, the patina is desirable.
