Some snaps and first impressions from Zenith at Baselworld
Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Jean-Frédéric Dufour at Baselworld. He took his time to show me the new collections. It was great to feel once more this man’s horological passion and drive. He is so enthusiastic about the tiniest details, it’s sheer pleasure for a Purist to listen to his engaging observations.
I took some quick and dirty snaps with my iPhone for you:
The new Stratos Striking 1/10th Flyback
I have absolutely no doubt that this model will permit Zenith to relive the success they’ve had with the initial Striking 1/10th. It is a stunning, incredibly balanced (gentleman’s) sports watch. Tough, yet elegant.
In addition to the basic model there will be a couple of special editions dedicated to some of Zenith’s ambassadors. My favourite was the Stratos Striking 1/10th Flyback A.T. It is made of black Alchron and sports a dark grey dial. The subdials share the colour code of the classic Striking 1/10th and look amazing against the dark background.
There is however another watch in the new collection which I truly fell in love with:

In my humble opinion this is the most elegant wristwatch with a second timezone complication ever made!
Finally, Jean-Frédéric showed me “one more thing”
which blew my mind away. It’s top secret at this stage, so I’m not allowed to talk about it. All I can say is: Better start saving!
Thanks, Valentin
