Something special for my son
My son will have his Bar Mitzvah this year and I wanted to choose something special for him. The constraints were a limited budget and it had to be something relatively simple so it would not look too ridiculous on a 13 year old wrist... However, I still wanted something that he could continue to wear for many years and that properly reflected the importance of the event.
It was a long search but I think I found the perfect piece. A Jaeger Master Control with the sector dial:

Price is very reasonable and, while not a limited edition piece, it is a limited production for 1 year to celebrate the new 25th anniversary of the Master Control. The Geneva boutique told me it was there last one.
What do you think? Good choice?

Not bad, but I'd go for the Chrono sector Dial. Not much more expensive and even younger and funnier!

Not a bad idea, but I had an expensive year (watch wise).
Also, my other son is turning 18 this year... So there is that.

The sector dial is quite nice but I can't help but wonder if the Polaris on a rubber strap would be a better choice for the rought and tumble "life style" a 13 year old boy. It's also a bit more low key and on a rubber strap it probably won't stand out as...

I've had 3 of them and I know how 13 year olds can be at times.

My eldest received a Blancpain at the same age. It's still going fine 5 years later, without even a dent, so there is hope!

son, your story or your circumstances. However I would contend that for such a special occasion an alternative might be something: timeless ageless classless a Speedy Pro* Rapwatch *The proper one, flight quailifed model, hesalite, solid back.
A good choice as the Sector dial is timeless and will still be in style 50 years from now
A nice clean, elegant watch that has a touch of sportiness and color to it. All at a fair price even. What's not to like?
