Strap change on Senator Chronometer

It is no secret around here how much I love my Senator Chronometer.  There has been nothing about the watch or ownership experience to be disappointed with in the slightest for me.  If I were forced to make any criticism, it would be that the "standard" OEM strap is rather long (and our good Dr. No warned me of this before it arrived).  I wore it on the tightest hole and it was OK, but still a bit looser than I typically like.  So I ordered the short strap shortly after receiving it, and yesterday it arrived.  I forgot to measure it after taking it off, but I have to guess it is about 1/2" - 3/4" longer than straps I am accustomed to from AP, Panerai, UN, etc.

It is very impressive how tight the rounded top of the straps fit to the case.  There is one springbar that holds the strap to the case, but I assumed there must be something I could not see to attach it so tight.  Sure enough, looking at the loose straps you can see GO has placed a metal structure into the strap.  And, a recessed channel carved into the case between the lugs to receive the strap structure.  I took care to protect the outside of the lug for the change, as this structure prohibits you from coming from the bottom side to attach it (you kind of have to push straight on to get it in place).

It was relatively straight forward with the proper tools (mine are from AP and a pleasure to work with).  Still, I looked at each connection several times to make sure the bars were properly seated.  This was certainly more involved than other changes I have completed.

I apologize for the poor lighting but wanted to share a few pictures so you can see the strap structure and case channel.
