Minute Repeaters are a kind of obsession, for me.
When thinking about them, I was wondering if they come with their " acoustic" passport, I mean, a document which relates all their acoustic parameters.
I remember that my IWC Portuguese Minute Repeater didn't have such a document.
I wonder if any Minute Repeater from another brand comes with this kind of document, as it is the case for the JLC Master Minute Repeater:
From the top to the bottom, you have the following informations for the Hour gong ( left ) as well as for the Minute gong ( right ).
- Volume: 69.6 / 72.7 dBA.
- Reverberation in ms: 164 / 132.
- Richness ( partials ): 3 / 4.
- Pitch - Tuning - Interval: Sib 5 + 20 Cents / Ré 6 + 26 Cents.
All these datas have been tested under the conditions at Jaeger-LeCoultre laboratories, and they are specific to each Master Minute Repeater.
It would be interesting to know the specifications of all the MMRs, in my opinion, so if any of you wants to share his datas, it would be great.
It is also interesting to see how close we are, in the terminology, to the world of music, and how far we are from an ordinary sound, here.
Best,
Nicolas.
