The Speedmaster Racing: a modern interpretation of the "Moonwatch".
Somehow overshadowed by the story telling about the moonwatch, Omega created a good looking modern alternative: the Speedmaster Racing.
A bit larger with all the ingredients that make modern Omega's so desirable : best possible movement technology and superior case, dial, bezel and strap quality.

Various dial options are offered. I decided for the most conservative combination of white dial with black bezel and some very decent orange accents.

As usual with Omega, you can probably not do much better in terms of dial quality.

Ceramic bezel seems to become a standard for most watches nowadays.

The 9900 movement features the most recent master chronometer technology from Omega.Aesthetically pleasing, with the correct size to fill the case and super precise: deviation of 4-5 seconds per week!!

The specs of 44.25 mm case size seem at first glance intimidating. Omega has worked however a lot to make it wrist friendly: first, the important lug to lug width is only 50 mm with strongly downward curved lugs.
Then they have worked to reduce the often criticised height of their watches bearing this movement : here we have a bare 15mm which is noticeably less than for example the "Dark side of the moon" series.
All this makes the watch very wearable for many wrist sizes for as long as the leather strap is used (the bracelet adds to the perceived size).
Here on my 17 cm wrist the watch wears subjectively more like a 42 mm case size and not much different from the "original" moonwatch.
By the way,did I mention that at similar price level there is not a lot of potential competition : maybe the Breitling Premier 01,the IWC Portuguese 3716 or the JLC Polaris Chrono ...
Thanks for looking,
