I agree with your comments about this model which I consider a great option among the the new versions of the classic Speedy. My wrist is also 17/ 17,5 mm and I had same concern about the size but trying the watch on my wrist showed it is very wearable and comfortable watch.
I opted for both the black and the silver versions of this model and I share them below.

Your version is also great.
In fact it was for me a close call between the white dial version and the one that you have. As for the accuracy,I said 4-5 seconds per week not per day. I guess that is more in line of what we have come to expect from Omega.

I have currently no plans to change the strap.
I have a few diver and bracelet watches that I can wear during the hot summer days. As for water proof straps I made very good experience with the Hirsch performance straps (rubber on the inside of the strap).
