Trying to Love the RDM...Trial and Resolution! (?)

Hi, all.  I picked this one up rather casually the other day.  I'm a great fan of the earlier 37mm Master series, but never warmed to this one.  I know all the intellectual arguments:  Perfect proportions, symmetrical dial, useful complications.  But it never really sang to me.  Well, now I own one and look forward to uncovering its charms.  But on this black strap, it seemed a little staid and dressy.  Could this be the key to unlocking the mystery of the RDMs appeal?

So, I happened to have a small collection of JLC straps and started to play.  It's all about context, correct?   This one seemed to fall nicely into place...

For me, it simply transforms the watch.  What was once only appropriate for suit and tie is now a daily driver.  Much more casual, and dare I say...lighthearted?  But I still worry that the strap change is merely cosmetic and I have yet to really appreciate all that is heroic about this watch.  Can anyone offer an emotional or practical appeal that will make me appreciate the lauded RDM all the more honestly and genuinely?   Thanks, Ken in NYC
