Which Octo Finissimo would you choose?
I currently have been wearing the lovely Octo Finissimo Automatic Tourbillon titanium 6 days out of the week. It’s fantastic as a daily wearer, but I’m confronted with a new opportunity to purchase the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater titanium as a very fair price. I’m in the midst of consolidating my collection and would not want to keep both so if I do purchase the Minute Repeater, the Tourbillon goes. Here are my pros and cons for each —
Automatic Tourbillon:
-ludicrously thin at 3.95mm
-amazing dynamic dial with flying tourbillon
Minute Repeater:
-40mm vs 42mm of the Tourbillon
-more complex(?) movement of the repeater
-more understated
-sapphire back
-more legible
Having worn the Tourbillon for a while there are 2 additional very small annoyances: 1) the movement is loud, 2) I can only set the minutes in increments of 5 since depressing the time set pusher locks the hand back to the closest 5 minutes.
Given this opportunity, what would you choose?

At our last IGOTT 2 Meeting back in Las Vegas, we had a minute repeater that was daily worn, daily driven, and even worn on a go-kart rally (lots of vibrations).
It's not a question of the minute repeater itself, it's dependent on the architecture of the movement. Generally extra-thin movements are riskier in high vibration environments.

I heard that the Bulgari movement is actually quite traditional and has similar architecture to the VC cal 2755 and Cartier 9406 movements that have been robust. Hoping that it would be the same too

That’s a big consideration for me too. From my understanding of the watch in general, the low density titanium is quite loud. Has good resonance and harmonics, but not as rich in tone compared to gold. Definitely not a Reverso Repeater which isn’t too gre...

Yes! +1. Lots of variance within the same brand and even same model...
I heard two of the same model. One had better tone but had more governor whirring noise. Among the two, I wouldn't buy neither of them.
But don't forget that most owners only play with the sound of their Minute repeater
during the first ten days. Therefore I think that the overall design and wearing comfort of such a watch is much more important than the actual sound.

It’s my first repeater so I don’t know how much I’ll be using it in the long run. The smaller diameter and better legibility are big pluses for a daily wear type watch. And the extra thickness is not even a problem going from 3.95 to 6.85mm.

Did you listen to the repeater? Anyway I'd go for it, I love the complication as well as the dial's symmetry.

I just want to add I am impressed by the tonality of this watch, especially with its ultra thin movement, unlike the Reverso. The volume seems impressive (even with background noise). Here’s a video link: imgur.com
In the recording the tone of the hours seems to be off...
Hours seem to "thunk" to my ears.
Get an expert... You wouldn't buy property without a realtor, why buy a watch that costs as much as a small house without an expert?
If you're serious about acquiring a piece like this; I would suggest that you get an expert to go with you to make an assessment. I'm consistently amazed at the number of wealthy people who hire consultants in their work all the time and assign an employe...
Thats a tough choice.
I do like the dial layout and overall look of the Tourbillon but to own a minute repeater is a dream come true imho.
