Withdrawal symptoms!
With my 5970 away for repair, a hard disk crash and a cold to contend with I decided a tonic was required.
A phone call to my AD and within hours I was there with a ref 5296 in my hands. What a fantastic design which harks back to the ref 130 and other chronometers. The detail is superb with the face changing colour as the watch moves on the wrist - silver/grey/silver/grey through all silver to grey/silver/grey/silver. The gunmetal blue hands are a joy and the movement of the large second hand is hypnotic.
Within minutes I became the first UK owner (verified by PP) of a ref 5296.
Whilst the 5970 is an incredible device my heart strings are plucked more by the 5296 - so simple, so elegant. Lesson seems to be to start a PP collection with the simple watches as it trains the eye to what these things are all about. I will now have a better appreciation for my grand complication.
I hope no one else agrees with me - I want to remain the sole UK 5296 owner. Do not buy one of these watches - you have been warned!
Regards
David
