Leading edge materials, 100% in-house movement Introducing the Audemars Piguet Millenary Carbon One Tourbillon Chronograph (all pictures can be clicked for high res versions) Audemars Piguet pioneered the use of forged carbon in timepiece design and produ...
my favourite carbon AP so far. Hope to see it in Geneva at the end of January. At least one time in the "metal", as I think it is not affordable for me :-( The look of the watch (both sides) is to die for Thanks Oliver
Thomas, Thanks for the reveal ! Two points: There is no "head-on" shot but it appears that the movement is oval 'Millenary'-shaped like the case? Forged carbon curved surfaces on the Millenary case may be more 'resistant' to scuffing and abrasions. The fl...
You can't just look at the pictures! The text did describe the movement as "oval"... ;-) Seriously, yes, the movement is "bespoke" and fit to the movement. Check out this pic - Interesting point regarding immunity to scuffing and abrasions. The Millenary ...
Who reads the words? I remember an erudite and insightful article about how to play tennis like Rod Laver in Playboy; it was the only article I ever read through....hehehe. I was a precocious 11-yr old......not interested in horology then. Regards, MTF
glad to see AP maximizing utilization of the forged carbon facilities that they invested in. Looks to be paying off immediately. Can't wait to see this in the metal! Wondering already how light it will be. Thanks again for the scoop TM...
on the pictures of the back plate there is a piece of metal (Al?) that surrounds the tourbillon hole. It seems to be mobile, but then there are stop screws on both sides that seem to restrict it. Can you tell me if this part is part of the chronograph mec...
Thanks Thomas for leading the way as usual. Any chance of seeing a forged carbon case / ceramic bezel Millenary launched this year with a more affordable complication, like a dual time?
Hi, Thank you Thomas for this black marvel! Will all this forged carbon save the planet from climate change? This case gives a bit of modernity to the gorgeous calibre! Cheers Dje
This looks brilliant. The back of the movement is reminiscent of Richard Mille, but the whole package hangs together and I certainly won’t hold that against AP! Were Renaud et Papi involved in the design? On a side note, I was never attracted to the mille...
Always attracted by the watch in picture, and disappointed once on the wrist. Of course, I don't spea about this last one, I noly saw in the press files pics. Will have to try it, but in pic, it looks really awesome. I love this " furious " black look, ve...
Hi Nicolas, Thanks for your observations on the Millenary case. Perhaps it comes down to wrist width that has been mentioned in the “Size Matters” thread. I found the Millenary case allowed me to wear a larger watch without any lug overhang. The MB&F HM1 ...
Quite a bold step for AP to go for forged carbon on a classic case like millenery, and even more so w/ high complication as shown here. I could imagine AP's targetting owners of Richard Mille complicated pieces?
on the pictures of the back plate there is a piece of metal (blackened Al?) that surrounds the tourbillon hole. It seems to be mobile, but then there are stop screws on both sides that seem to restrict it. Can you tell me if this part is part of the chron...
Hi Aaron, this is the chrono lateral clutch lever - the two large head screws are fixing it to the back plate for vertical movement, but allowing for lateral freedom. The tiny screw (at 5'clock viewed form the back) is the pivoting point and the two small...
The movement is a delight in every detail. Unfortunately it is embedded in a shell I find less than pleasing, to put it euphemistically ... if that point of view is allowed between the massive wows here.
