There‘s actually one other in my grail list and two honorable mentions.
The other grail double split would be the Patek 5370P. If I would rate purely the watch, it would beat the FPJ with its finishing, enamel dial and pure beauty. Taking into consideration my collection and the price point, I‘d rather buy the FPJ rattrapante, the chronometre optimum and a 5170 for the price of the 5370. Also, the FPJ rattrapante is a bigger contrast to the other watches in my current collection, which makes it more desirable to own for me.
Honorable mentions go to the Habring Felix Doppel for the history and making such an accessible double split and to the ALS double split for its great movement, detail and finishing. The ALS doesn‘t make it into my grail list because it‘s too thick for my taste.

Well, at least it seems to look good (right size) on your wrist.
I also prefer the contrast the rubber brings to the watch. Without it, the watch (in all metals) just seems too formal to me. Looking forward to the pictures when it arrives. It might be the first one here, or at least I don’t recall seeing anyone regular...

Can't speak about him personally, but his creations have Always been a bit unconventional.

IMHO It is one of my most 3 awesome modern rattrapante. I give you one tip that most of the time will save you from buying one specific watch. Go see and touch another dream watch then dream for another grail watch.
That's definitly one way to deal with it.
On the other hand the other rattrapante watches in my grail list have serious disadvantages compared to this one so they wouldn't be able to keep me from buying this one.

I want to keep the number of watches in my collection stable. So you could buy one of those. Not necessarily heavily Discounted, though.
