G'day,
just a bit of fun; this is one of few current models by Girard-Perregaux with a movement featuring a gold chaton. Chatons holding the jewels are a little obsolete these days, as both movement plates/bridges and rubies can be made to fit much smaller tolerances today. In the old days of natural rubies being used for movement bearing, both represented a challenge and the more flexible fit of a gold setting made for a solution.
Nonetheless, there´s one in the Lady Chronograph with GP30C0 caliber:
Enjoy
Cheers,
Peter
