It seems that silicon is becoming the popular material to solve many horological problems in the most modern of watches being produced. I knew it was desirable for its low coeficient of friction, but I did not know it was considered a durable material that will hold up to long term wear and tear.

Definitely intriguing. I see design similarities to the UN Dual Ulysse escapement.
