what you describe sounds like a horror trip and I can fully relate why you "retired" the watch. Something was seriously wrong with your watch and the fact that it could not be fixed is serious. I do have a Vintage 45 with the same movement (less PR) and that is one of my most reliable and best time-keeping watches.

I have the grey dial version and I love it...
... but this doesn't stop me eyeing the white dial/red date one every now and then. I say go for it, even if it means delaying the acquisition of your 2018 target, I am sure you will not regret it!
