. . . with your observation that G O doesn't have an overt image, which is reflected in - and perhaps is - corporate policy. They don't sponsor races, assign brand ambassadors, or otherwise involve themselves in popular events. They are affiliated with cultural activities in Germany, but that carries little attention in the media.
To me, Glashütte Original represents unpretentious watchmaking for people who care about intrinsic quality. If the image of the Manufacture was analogous to that of a person, I would venture Jimmy Stewart or Gary Cooper, both of whom had a humble demeanor, but managed to convey themselves convincingly. Or, within the arena of sports, driver Mark Donohue or wide receiver Steve Largent, who likewise were at the very top of their respective games, but never lost themselves in wild celebration after a victory.
As for automobile manufacturers, the closest similarity would be Audi, I think. Creatures of the wild? Owls, definitely ;-) . . .
