. . . the cal 100 perpetual but I have owned three cal 39 perpetuals over a period of four years now, and the reason I had the confidence to purchase numbers 2 and 3, not to mention number 4 which will arrive shortly, is that my experience with number 1 exceeded my expectations. That watch, a black dial Karree, did have teething problems, but once they were sorted out it has performed with aplomb . . . it's been running continuously, either on a winder or my wrist, for well over three years without a hitch, and gains about half a minute per week. Perpetual number 2, a grey dial Karree, has been running for three years also with nary a problem, has never been sent in for any kind of service, and loses about half a minute per week now . . . it used to lose slightly more, but seems to have stabilized recently. They've never missed a date change since they began their marathon odyssey.
The kicker is number 3, a rose gold Senator . . . I've told the story before, but for those that haven't heard, that watch survived a two-foot drop onto a hard tile floor without missing a beat . . . it continued to run as before, roughly a minute per week ahead, until I sent it in for case repair and regulation. It's been running continuously now for almost a year, and loses about a second per day. Granted this is entirely anecdotal, and others may have less stellar results, but with three good performers out of three purchases, I'm confident that number 4, a rose gold black dial Karree, will be just as satisfying.
