Glashütte Original

Own both BP & GO

I think for a start you can take whatever your AD is telling you with a large pinch of salt - like about a Dead Sea's worth. Both companies produce great watches. The GO is a pure in house movement whereas the BP uses a Frederic Piguet movement which is almost in house. But that's being more than a little pedantic.

My BP's and GO are robust enough. Both will take knocks to the case without damaging the movement, but will show them on the case, but that should be no surprise if you enjoy wearing them on a daily basis.

The GO has a very clear dial design that makes everyone else's (including BP and Lange) look fussy, and hard to read. Even my beloved JLC Master Perpetual takes second place to the GO on readability. Perhaps the exception to all these is the UN but their dials seem to have illogical subdial placement.

My only downers on the GO are that the movement and the case seem too thick - 12.5mm vs. 9 or 10mm for the competitors. That makes a difference to how and when you wear it - it won't fit very easily under French cuffs for example. I also wish GO would launch a Perpetual using the "Pano" movement with a micro rotor in a watch that would be no thicker than 10mm and use the existing dial layout. My check book would be out before you could say Glashutte Original...
