I was working with Canadian Tire in Toronto, and a friend told me about a car for sale.
Next thing, I had bought it and since I live in California, I was driving it home.
About 6 days, 5000 km and stopped enroute at Indy for the F1 race.
I think it was the first year F1 was in Indy, so about 99 or so.
Once back in 84 I was at Stone Mountain outside Atlanta GA, for the press launch of the first Chrysler mini-van.
They asked if anyone wanted to drive one to California.
I raised my hand, they threw me the keys, and I hit the highway!
It was about 60 days before the public launch of the car, so we were swamped everytime we stopped.
Shot out to San Diego, picked up my wife, drove up the coast to Seattle to show my folks, then back to SD.
One week, 6000 miles, lots of gas and fast food for me that week.
Road & Track got the car, only 10 days out of the factory, and well-broken in.
I'm starting to feel the need for another road trip, though I went to Phoenix a few weeks ago, it's only a short hop across the desert
(although it just takes 7-8 hours, it's like traveling back in time - see the motel signs?)
