Glashütte Original

Our Man in Glashütte forwarded a few photos of . . .

. . . the new Senator Hand Date, which I either neglected to photograph back in May, or perhaps was not on display at the Swatch exhibition in Los Angeles:

This is the first current generation Senator other than the chronograph models equipped with the cal 39 movement, and it's the only current analog date display in the line-up . . . if memory serves correctly, the last pointer date from Glashütte Original was the 1845 Classic, which has been discontinued for several years now. Fairly or not, the image of the manufactory is linked to their proprietary Panorama Date display, which offers, imho, the most legible and aesthetically pleasing presentation of a date complication. I was, therefore, a bit surprised by this offering . . . the date display is nicely balanced by the small seconds subdial, and the unmistakable Glashütte aesthetic is present, but I'm so accustomed to the Panodate display now that any other method seems, umm, different ;-). I'd like to hear your opinions, G O fans . . . cordially, Art
