In the past, GO used to make Senator chronographs with date at 12. But due to the construction, the date wheel itself was sunken beneath the level of the chrono plate. IMO this was not on. It necessitated a magnifying glass to keep the date legible and it made for a very unharmonious result.
No, in this instance no date is good. If you do want a date on your chronograph, I strongly suggest an integrated movement. I'm not sure about price levels but you could have a look at the Blancpain Flyback Grande Date or the new JLC Master Chronograph although that is not available with a black dial.
