I have just lost about six hours of my life over two days trying to deal with M/S. I owe them some money and between them and my bank, the automatic payment collection was wrongly declined.
I have given up. If they want my money, they can come and collect it.

I suggest to fly and take delivery in Germany
No customs, no taxes. Spend some time in beautiful country and save money or spend it there. It used to be 5% customs plus state tax.
Would they necessarily be able to tell if the watch comes complete with box and papers??
Only way I guess would be if they closely reviewed the papers for other owners name.
