Thomas, the "real life" scenario is cruel
But we should not let that be our obstacle to hold GTG. We are facing the similar problem here in Malaysia. Often, we have whisky or wine drinking, or travelling for good food GTG. Using purist friend's wedding or birthday as an opportunity/excuse to get together.
Having said all that, the effort to hold a GTG can be frustrated sometimes by "real life".

putting these thing together is a HUGE task. seatings; limitations; no shows; personalities; differing values and budgets... Many daunting hurdles to face. Thanks for not giving up.

When i was a teenager I always said that someday I would own a Lamborghini or Ferrari. The Ferrari I always wanted was the 308. Thirty-some years later I have fulfilled the dream. Next time you are in town I'll have to take you for a ride!
