in this thread i think, as well as the original Bulova Accutron we can include brands like Omega that used the licenced movement. i think you'll be surprised that there are more brands than you might first have thought. at one stage i owned over 40 tuning...

which said something to the effect of 'last year 97% of our electronic watches were chronometer certified' as they were selling tuning forks by the shed load. much preferred to quartz for obvious reasons. it does amaze me how many purists have tuning fork...

its funny Art, people that dont know their quirks hate them, but people that do, love them. i wish i'd kept so many of them, but especially the 1964 assymetric and my Snorkel 218 which was a large watch with full mesh bracelet. oh look at that, an excuse ...

Thanks, Graham. Papers state that it was bought at Sydney Airport in early 1970. But the bit that tickles me is the Tuning Fork logo and the "Symbol of guaranteed accuracy through electronics" script. It lives on a dessicant bag as the hum starts resonati...

that sounds like a good reason to get one young lady. there are plenty around, but if your being puristy about it you'll need to check the case number is on the list of original spaceviews. if you are interested in looking for one i can send you the infor... 

The 218 was actually introduced in 1965 and gradually started phasing out the 214.

hi Mrsnak, i certainly dont want to disagree with you, but in all my years of collecting them i have never seen a 218 older than 1969. i would love to see an earlier example of a 218 although i prefer the purity of the 214's and the lack of crown on the c... 

but I also saw one with an M5 caseback posted on another forum this year. It prompted me to look into it more.

very nice and lovely condition Andreas. i also had a rectangular cased model until 3 years ago. i should have kept it as they are bigger and more wearable than the 214 round cases. thanks for showing us. Graham
