ADVICE on my first purchase please!
Hey guys. I am a young guy, who has been in love with fine wristwaches for years now. I promised myself a 'high end' mechanical for my first paycheck at my first decent job. This is now 2 weeks away. Obviously I will be starting small with my collection. My aim is to one day acquire a Vianney halter and a Kiu Tai Yu. But at this stage my budget is extremely modest. US$2000 max.
I am heavily leaning towards a Dubey and Schaldenbrand. Possibly the diplomatic model.
Does anyone have any good suggestions? I want something which is strong on design, slightly unusual. And definitely mechanical.

For that price range, I'd consider Nomos or Chronoswiss as the other brands would be running on ETA s (whilst a robust movt with good price ration performance, but very common and having virtually no finishing)

the problem is that you gave a very specific target: the desire to finally own a Kiu Tai Yu, or a Vianney shows you have read and seen a lot about fine timepieces, and you have a unique taste. Therefore, I really hesitate to suggest a watch from a mass se...
