Short review of my latest acquisition - the Ming Watches 17.01

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-04:16
While we all like to believe to be masters of our own destinies, sometimes life throws us a curve ball. And while mine - of late 2016 - was fortunately not of the kind that will derail my further life unduly, it did result in the watch budget being draine...

Not seen the anthracite live yet...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-05:30
But from pictures it appears similarly alluring, even if quite different. The digital guilloche comes out stronger on it, though.

You're welcome, Sake!

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-05:32
Cannot really give you an answer to your question, though - since I have not yet seen the Lundis Bleus. But a good point to check it out - thanks

The third picture is stunning

 By: Bruno.M1 : August 24th, 2017-05:39
Thanks for the review Hope to get one too My first choice is also the blue πŸ˜€

I only hope the 38mm is big enough for me

 By: Bruno.M1 : August 24th, 2017-05:42
Cause I always said.... nothing under 40 for my wrist But I've read it looks a bit bigger than 38 because of the big dial vs not so thick bezel

That is the other side of the coin...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-05:53
Direct distribution means a lower overall cost - as you do not have retail and wholesale layers involved - but unfortunately also means that trying it on before making a decision is sadly much more difficult. Do hope it fits though

The points re. dial and bezel are true.

 By: willski : August 24th, 2017-08:11
But bear in mind the lugs are short and curved.

I generally find that kind of lug more universal...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-09:16
In terms of what wrists it fits. But I know that different people have different preferences in that respect πŸ‘πŸ»

Even a blind hen finds a worm...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-05:51
Or something of that sort - my poor photography sadly isn't improving fast enough But that one did seem to work better than the others, hence also chosen for the front picture of the post Thanks!

Huge congratulations my friend πŸ‘πŸ‘ Great and in depth review of your new Ming. I'm really pleased to see the blue dial one even if it's only in pictures (may be one day in real πŸ˜‰)

 By: Alkiro1 : August 24th, 2017-05:59
You're the fourth Purists to own this rare timepiece and the first one with a blue dial if I'm right. This timepiece will become a the new blockbuster at this rate. Best wishes Alkiro

Definitely coming to a GTG near you ;)

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-06:02
On a more serious note, it is a very intriguing watch - and one I am very much looking forward to placed next to your FP Journe Chronometre Bleu for a twin shot Thanks Alkiro!

Deal done πŸ‘

 By: Alkiro1 : August 24th, 2017-06:32
I'm really interested in seeing this one in real. You know, 38mm and such a mesmerising blue dial are, especially, really my taste πŸ˜‰ Best wishes Alkiro

Perfect πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-07:42
Blue dials and raw meat - match made in heaven

Hehe we'll do that together my friend for sure πŸ˜‰

 By: Alkiro1 : August 24th, 2017-07:48
You have the Ming, I have the FPJ CB and we both know good tartare spots. Best wishes Alkiro

The question remains...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-09:12
Where? But I am sure we will find an arrangement

Absolutely! πŸ˜‰

 By: Alkiro1 : August 24th, 2017-09:19
Best wishes Alkiro

Thanks for this thorough review, KM.

This is a very interesting story, and the watch is quite good-looking.

Thanks Padj!

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-07:46
Glad you like it As said, coming soon to a GTG close to you

As I am about to extend the number of people to pass on watches to in the PP sense...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-21:31
I was hoping for you making another sausage tasting tour in the dual monarchy...

Big congratulations!!! [nt]

 By: TheMadDruid : August 25th, 2017-06:18

Still got quite some weeks to go :)

 By: KMII : August 25th, 2017-06:28
But thanks regardless

Very nice pictorial & also very comprehensive review !.. Well done.. So do I interpret this, that "only" your blue has arrived yet ?

 By: hs111 : August 24th, 2017-07:48
.. Either way, your pic 3 is really awesome & well chosen. Most if not all your points are spot on; a more than interesting newcomer, that's for sure. I'll also be curious about possible future models issued by the Micro-brand.. A last little thing fromHu...

I hear you...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-09:14
On a seconds hand as an indicator, whether it's running. But then again one hears it's heartbeat Glad you liked the review and that you largely share the verdict. As for arrived, depends on the serial number and when they are ready

Booming

Nice watch indeed and thank for adding your review. I was surely too late recognizing its potential but still hope to have a chance to encounter somewhere soon. Cheers, Kolosstt

Are they all sold out?

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-11:05
Or is it only the current batch? A nice piece at any rate and glad if the review was helpful!

According Ming website the remaining ones are 3times over-subscribed

 By: kolosstt : August 24th, 2017-11:37
No more blue and anthracite available of the 300 total reference 17.01. Cheers Kolosstt

Deserved - I would say [nt]

 By: kolosstt : August 24th, 2017-12:33

Quoting their website

 By: kolosstt : August 24th, 2017-20:44
We are extremely grateful to our customers and supporters for the great reception the 17.01 has received - unfortunately, this has also meant we have the good problem of (as at today, roughly ten days after launch) over 900 people on the waiting list for ...

The right thing to do, IMHO...

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-21:21
But I believe there will be other watches from them in due course...

Did they say when?

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-21:19
The next 'race' is on?

Still have a chance...

 By: CD : September 19th, 2017-11:38
The second batch was sold out in about 3 minutes! There is a third, but last batch, in late October. I received mine this past weekend and it's truly a very nice one.

How nice to have also such a reading pleasure to go with excellent photos

 By: BjoernM21 : August 24th, 2017-10:59
This Ming watch has really aroused the interest of watch enthusiasts: On two well known commercial watch blogs you could find - for once - also enthusiastic and informative reviews on it instead of rehashed press releases. For me it was particularly inter...

Thanks a lot for your kind words, BjΓΆrn!

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-11:07
I have seen the Ochs & Junior and would not mind it at all At any rate, glad you enjoyed the review!

I am so disappointed... πŸ˜₯

 By: Mike H : August 24th, 2017-14:36
...that I heard about this Ming too late and it was already sold out... I would also have gone for a blue dial as it is the color of love as blomman and zabreg1 say (with right πŸ˜‰). I need to try this one, surely at our next GTG πŸ˜‰. Congrats my friend, wear...

Thank you Mike!

 By: KMII : August 24th, 2017-21:22
Will definitely bring it to the next GTG And I am sure more watches and models will become available from Ming in the coming years

Big congrats!

 By: mj23 : August 24th, 2017-21:08
Nice looking watch.

Thanks MJ23! [nt]

And it is even on Bloomberg

 By: Bruno.M1 : August 25th, 2017-00:43
Guess there will be quite a lot more than 900 requests by now It is indeed the hodinkee article, but I'm surprised Bloomberg agrees to publish such an article about such a micro brand, I guess they really did everything right Strange such a cheap watch g...

Well...

 By: KMII : August 25th, 2017-01:44
As usually, it is not about the price, only
