All mechanical watches should have PR
IMO. One of the most useful and practical functions when compared to say a moonphase or chrono. And to use your car gas gauge analogy, I thnk it should be on the front. Cars don;t have these gauges in the boot

Can you envisage a Sub with a PR indicator? What's the big issue? Stop worrying and just wind the thing This topic has been discussed many times before, but I am still of the belief that the best ever execution of a PR indicator was on the Futurematics......

Agreed, except on long mower reserve watches.

The frustrating thing with that watch is...
...trying to catch the numbers flicking over from 8 to 7. You end up wearing it reversed and then look away at the wrong time.
There was another one I loved a lot, on the Pam 190.

To me, only useful if watch has less then 36 hours PR
I then not to wear same watch two days in a row, so PR indicator not so important. Unless the watch sports a date/day complications. In any case, for those with dates, I prefer either longer PR or I will simply choose automatic that I could plonk in winde...

I was at the Panerai event in LA recently. And was taken by several of the hand wound watches with P3000 movements. And planning well ahead of the next buy, particularly because I just acquired a Rolex 214270 last month J.
Let me guess...thinking of the Pam372 with the P3000?
If it is this particular one, I think the emotional appeal of the watch should overide all concerns of the 3days PR, whether adequate or inadequate by ones' standards... - Best, Horo

That going for crazy prices man. The subject matter is about PR indicators, so I shall not stray. The 203 is angelus based 8days, and the 249 is ETA derived OP X which is 56 hours, both drastically different from the 372's P3000. And also all 3 on differe...

I recently acquired a han d round watch.
I actually think it is great, it does ont have a power reserve indicator and you have to wind it up once every day or two. It is a very pelassent expérience one should look forward. Best regards, George

Which is why I just bought a 4 year old JLC MC 8 day hand wound in RG. And very glad I did! I love being able to see how much 'charge' there is in the watch at any given time. And winding once or twice a week is no chore - almost more of a pleasure. What ...
it makes no difference to me whatsoever.
if i'm wearing a handwind i wind it pretty much the same time every day so a power reserve is not nessesary. i only have a couple of watches with power reserves, but they are all Japanese Orient Stars which have no handwind facility so its quite important...
