Horological Meandering

Was 2013 a good millesime? Some have raised this question, all along the year. I must say that 2013 let me perplex. Lange and Sohne, for example, let me a bit cold. The Rattrapante, well, didn't impress me, as well as the Grande Complication. Vacheron did...  

Here are the ones that attracted my attention (only watches that I could buy): 1) Zenith Stratos Fly Back (If it was 42mm it could be a killer): 2) The Zenith Montre d'Aeronef Type 20 (the small and wearable one) 3) The Omega Seamaster AquaTerra 15,000 Ga...

The JLC UT Jubilee PT is one of my favorite for the 2013 however i think Arnold & Son did a fantastic job with the Ultra Thin tourbilion in palladium limited to 50 pcs and i still think Lange did a great job with the Ratra Perpetual 1815 & GP's Co...

For me, when talking about a year of surprises, I cannot but mention Cartier. And especially in the relatively affordable category this Rotonde Mysterious. Apologies for the poor picture quickly snapped in the boutique. Dean ...  

I also think 2013 was not an exceptional year and i cross my fingers for 2014… As for 2013, my favourite watches are: 1. In the "Vintage look" category - Zenith montre d'aeronef type 20 GMT If only it could be smaller.... - Maurice Lacroix Pontos S diver ...

It wasn't the super super hot year by every brand but still plenty of new pieces to drool over... Romain with the Logical One... Vianney with the Deep Space... Kari with his Vingt-8 R Zenith Christoph Columb Fusee Harry Winston Opus 13 UN Freak Cruiser Th...  

One I still don't get, though, is the Kari Vouilainen RDM... Which looks like a much more affordable JLC, and which I find less inspired, for once, from Kari. The Deep Space is to die for. As for U.N, well, this is something we share. Not a too bad year, ... 

But in platinum. I like the black dial version over the enamel. I realize I am in the minority. It was a great step forward for Romain. Best, Joe

Great watch. Platinum. And I like the design! Personally, that's the best watch of 2013 to me.

It was in my point of view an excellent year with some really impressive watches including three which are true breakthrough. These three watches are the Swatch Sistem51, the Urwerk EMC and the GP Constant Escapement: About the others, my selection is: 18...

The Kari watch was definitely NOT unveiled until 2013. The concept of the watch came before of course, but not the watch. The Breguet was debuted in rg before 2013, but not available until the start of the year.

I had the pleasure to see the Breguet, loved its style, less its volumes. As for the Kari, well, it is a Kari. Somptuous, at the exception of the Reserve de Marche which is the one I don't understand at all. Thanks for you input! Nicolas

My blue ribbon goes to the RM 027-01, with Cartier's Mysterious Tourbillon coming in a close second. There are others, of course. But these 2 took my breath away.
