Horological Meandering

Dear Members, after a short discussion on the Independent Forum, I was asked from a dear Member, to make a short pool: What would be your favourite Purists XVth Anniversary watch, or at least: would you mind if we get a special Purists watch? Any idea is ...  

Limited to 178 pieces, budget around €5.000 per pop or thereabouts, so enough members can participate. Some brands mentioned were Dornblüth, Habring and Ochs & Junior. Many other possibilities, I am sure. Curious if there\'s demand for a 15th anniversary ... 

but unfortunately not real. In order to make 178 pieces Dirk will require 3-4 years.

The same would go for Habring - probably two full years of production... Thinking aloud, how about several manufacturers making 15 pieces each? This would provide members with more choice (also allow for different price levels) and allow smaller manufactu... 

The question is partly how certain the manufacturer is to sell the complete stock produced and partly in customization. Some may have little difficulty with customizing, as it comes at no extra cost. Maybe several manufacturers propositioned, each getting... 

All these sound great. Needs some thought as to what it should be exactly...but the direction of the conversation is definitely interesting! Best E.

I am liking already Do you think we will really get 178 takers? Difficult for these small manufactures to produce that number. MB would be a great option, but producing a Minerva for that price would probably be impossible... Tudor, would be great too... ... 

May be a bit above in price but we could get quite some takers. If it is smaller manufacturers like Ochs & Junior, it would have to be less than 178 pieces, as they would be occupied for too long (if they were not to completely abandon their regular busin...

The new Datejust 40 mm PuristSPro Edition. Ha! That would be cool. They only have to make a special dial. Or just replace the rehaut Rolex with a rehaut PuristSPro

They add the complication to the outsourced movement. But hey; Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Panerai, Tudor, Sarpaneva, Cartier, etc, etc, etc have done and/or are doing the same. So is that really such big a deal?

Compromise with quality. Habring, why not? Rolex? Not sure they will accept to play the game. JLC? I have to ask. I don't know. The thing is that we should be quite a lot to want the same thing, which is the main issue, I fear. Best, Nicolas

What we need first is a confirmed number of serious participants before we can go ask a brand for a quotation and possibilities.

... as much as I like the couple and consider them my personal friends. But they made the special watch for Timezone (a stunning piece, by the way), and it would appear a bit weird if PuristSPro would copy that. Tudor would be my vote as well: Solid, horo...

Honestly, I have also thought about it, because there was already a Timezone Minerva watch!!!

I just have the feeling MB won't deliver 178 watches, but 50, most certainly. If enough of us are interested, we can always speak with the Wizard of Oz... He's a good friend. Nicolas

Would not mind at all, and the movement fits the case. Cathedral hands? But you are right, maybe something else. Was just an idea to keep costs in check and get something unique these days

But would be happy to accept a larger size if that is where the majority leans towards...

What better way to celebrate than a Minerva movement?

A manual winder at a lower price point could be the ticket.

. . . would be a shoo-in. And keep it ~ 38 mm, please . . . as close to the original designs as possible. Steel, Mk 11 inspired black dial, display back, and four figures $US. I can think of a few other possibilities, but none better. Art ...  

I happen to own exactly this piece, its 40mm, here with a white gold case: Still the old Cal. 48, nicely decorated: A keeper, for sure! If a PPro watch would come out like this with the current calibre revision - a dream! Magnus ...

... compared with the watch case itself. Honestly, I would rather prefer a watch where the movement is somewhat more proportionate to its case. Other than that, your Minverva is stunningly beautiful, I love that dial! Marcus

Nice layout, I acknowledge classic elegance. Though, I would like to see a bit more texture like a sunburst dial or applied numerals. As far as it concerns your comment about the case/movement ratio, I see your point. BR, Kolosstt

A decently finished manual wind Minerva MB in a decent size... I\'d sign up immediately (almost) immediately. Please make it happen! PuristS JLC would also be very tempting...

And even if MB agress to make under Minerva, they dont have enough of the vintage Minerva badged dials Best, Horo

Why not a special edition of the 1937? With some slight modifications, it might yet become (another) community watch made by them. This base model could offer: 1/ capability of higher production numbers and more affordable price range 2/ while having a ni...

They have already done a special PuristSPro edition of the 1963 hand wound chrono in 49 units...

I am very SCEPTIC. There was a Roll Call at a german watch forum for a limited Panerai forum watch and despite of the over 250 fix members and the super connections of the leaders of the forum, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Panerai did a LE for the Russian forum (70 psc), the price was 7000 euro.

Before ruling out any brand, I would ask them. The worst they can say is no they could not. Another idea is RGM...801 manufacture caliber?

Some dial and hands customization. Time only is fine although at that price point, what independent and produce 178 watches in a year?

The thought of a Montblanc, or a Chopard, or - Be still, my heart! - a JLC manual movement has me salivating. A simple 3-hand perhaps? I don't want to muddy the waters, but would Omega be approachable for its nice co-axial? Ok, that's an automatic, so pro...

With only an engraving and dial print, I think we could do better. ^^
