Horological Meandering

Hey, it's a quiet weekend: how about we have a look at some vintage (or vintage style) pieces? It would be good to see some of the classic designs which have shaped what we wear today - some of the old Ingeneurs, perhaps; original Reversos, Tudors, Omega ...  

To make it short and nice ( well, I hope ), here is my latest catch, something interesting an beautiful, a Vintage Longines 30 CH Chrono from 1964 / 65: An influence for our modern days? My answer would be a Reference... For all the fine modern chronograp...  

...but I don't see why so many new tributes to old pieces must include a date. I almost never prefer a watch with a date window. One of my favorite interpretations of an old watch from Longines is this one (notice no date!): Istituto Idrografico R. Marina...  

....but the re-edition? Hmmmm. Why the date window? Longines not confident of the original style appealing sufficiently to a modern market? It cries out for a domed plexi a la TTP, don't you think? Cheers, pplater.

I was waiting for a re edition of the WWW. It landed a few months ago, and what do I see? A date at 6, " eating " the small second subdial. Eating, not to say ...Ruining. Now this Tribute to Expedition, and bingo, here again, a date. While Longines was ab...

first one is "GP 1791" marked on the dial. i have never showed this one here before. not sure whether it can be classified as true vintage another one is Cartier Must de Tank in silver. i have posted this watch in Cartier Forum before. cheers, stefan...

Lovely looking Tudor, John. Congratulations. Great crown and case lines and I particularly like "Shock Resisting" on the dial rather than the more expected "Shock Resistant". Cool stuff. Andrew

The Breguet-style hands on this Omega caught me by surprise, but the colour against the dial and the outer blue scale really brought the watch to life. Wonderful vintage Omega. Andrew

Re-issue of the WWW Greenlander but with added date.Nice size (38.5mm),stepped up case. Dial is a deep black with incredible lume....
