Chuckles. I actually bought a Hermes Strap too, for the same reasons.
2 years ago, I bought a calf skin leather strap ( I think it is calf or cow) and it is a typical orange soft Hermes handbag leather one.
Apparently, I checked with Hermes, at Basel in 2006 that only that orange leather model is made by Hermes. The croco ones are not.
You will not be dissapointed. You can feel the difference. And now after 2 years..my strap has become brown. The orange/brown look is actually good IMHO...and the leather is very very soft. No seasoning required..soft from minute 00.
You are a true purist...same thinking haha...trying to get a few "shortcuts".

Does anyone know how's the quality of Hermes leather strap? Heard from a friend that they look really really good and it costs almost double of Carmile Fournet. Any thoughts? Lovesss*CL
