Horological Meandering

Evening Coffee with a Watchmaker

I had the pleasure to spend an hour with a friend who is an AP/JLC certified watchmaker, its always an amazing experience to meet him as he is a font of technical knowledge and totally dedicated to his craft, his fascination and passion for all things horology beyond all monetary concerns is refreshing.

He brought along a very interesting movement to show me, a movement made in gold:

The interesting thing is that it has no markings but is beautifully decorated

Apologies for the poor pictures but it was the best I could do in the poor lighting of the cafe. The mystery of this beauty has been haunting him for years, he has tried to find out who made it or where this movement came from. I was hoping the collective brain trust of the Purists could rally to the cause and come up with some ideas.

The beautiful blued hands that belong to the movement

Also present during the evening was his gorgeous Longines, the dial has aged to a nice ivory color:

I love the raised glass on this piece

Also present were the following pieces:

His Zenith Defy, given as a gift for his years of service, interesting thing I noted was the bezel and the crown reminded me of the Breitling Chronomat Red Arrows and Hong Kong Royal Airforce I used to own, they had the exact same design

My GS VFA also came out to play

and my trusty daily beater

Hope you enjoyed the pics smile
