Horological Meandering

Great post

Very well written and definitely thought provoking. Enjoyed reading the numerous responses as well that are well articulated. The one thing fundamentally different between a watch and a grandfather clock is that one would always relate better to the former. One would wear it on his or her wrist, and carry it around. It’s more sentimental than a clock which you leave behind in the home. But I must admit that the interest level could easily be diluted in this digital age. Hence we need to educate and start them young, telling them the value of a watch. I was thinking about it the other day. Actually to me a watch’s value could be categorized as branding, aesthetics, technical, history, provenance and sentimental (which to me is the most important). The most important thing is to be able to relate to the watch. Otherwise it’s all for nought...
