Horological Meandering

I always felt that EBEL...

made the most comfortable watches I had ever tried on. I became familiar with them in 1994, and the 1911's bracelet with its rounded links was a sensuous pleasure to wear (whereas the Sport Classic was not - at least for me - due to my hairy arms).

It saddens me that once a great leader with good business acumen is removed from the post, those who follow want to ride the wave, but don't swim hard enough to stay on or ahead of it. To see EBEL as basically a women's watch line is disappointing.

I used to own a Sport Wave, which debuted in 1994. I wore it for 6 years and then gave it to my brother-in-law (after refinishing the bracelet and bezel). It is one of the most robust cases I've seen in the industry.

Perhaps someone will come along with enough vision to "bring it back."
