Thank you so much for this post. I have been wondering for a long while what happened to Ebel and your story has filled in the gaps wonderfully If you have this on any other brand, so well researched and eloquent... But back to the watch, it is indeed nic... 

This GP 1966 has a similar dial arrangement, with the same date window invading the 3-O\'Clock marker in the same way. In fact, seeing it made me think that the two blocks of Rue de la Fusion between GP\'s manufacture and Ebel\'s La Chaux-de-Fonds facilit...  

I\'ve worn the Ebel 1911 and the sport wave as a young man..lived the brand back then however you have renewed my interest in this LE piece. Hope to find one soon ) Thanks, Ovi

made the most comfortable watches I had ever tried on. I became familiar with them in 1994, and the 1911's bracelet with its rounded links was a sensuous pleasure to wear (whereas the Sport Classic was not - at least for me - due to my hairy arms). It sad...

Thanks a lot for this comprehensive article. It is a watch which was on my wish list. Even the date window was not a main issue for me. At the end, I didn't take the plunge but I am stil happy to see pics of it. Thanks! Fx
