I am not into black cased watches, but I find this one quite interesting, aesthetically speaking.
The contrast between the black metal, dial / movement and the wooden bezel is just splendid.
Like you, I feel the oversized Logo RL is too much and spoils a bit this superb dial.
Still have to digest all this.

I think the movement looks great
In my opinion, the blackened and skeletonized FA Jones movement is much better looking here than in its native IWC context. I like the style too. I'm just disappointed that the edition will be so small. Cazalea
