In response to the recent Universal Genève Relaunch...
...I thought I'd be wearing this classic today:
It represents everything the modern iteration of UG is now missing - extremely affordable price, robust but unpretentious and utilitarian handwound movement and just taking themselves not too seriously. The new UG feels too stuffy and too "wannabe exclusive" to me, the old designs were just quirky and fun without trying too hard.

Sadly there's been quite a been of inflation (=speculation) ahead of the reboot and several model prices have exploded, a familiar and unfortunate pattern.

I completely understand your feelings
and your watch has a wonderful 70s design. It comes from a time when there wasn’t such a hype about watches and I would say that this role (simple affordable watches with imaginative designs) is now played by other brands. Best, Emmanuel

The dial really is what makes this watch, otherwise it would be a fairly plain and simple little watch. The rarity of this dial variant only adds to the attraction, they are quite hard to be found on the market.
