I wish you wouldn't post photos of that watch. I am now trying to get the idea of purchasing one out of my mind. Could you answer one question re: the GMT function. Does it advance the 12 hour hand "Rolex style" or the 24 hand ummmm ETA module style?

I put a lighter brown strap on mine which goes well with the yellowish-white dial. It looks great in real life, although so does a very dark blue navy strap I have. The strap here looks a little maroon which isn't the reality. Will try for a better shot s...

I wear the GS 65% of the time and the Roger Smith 35% of the time. I will get some pics of the dark navy band. I wish the brown was truer to color in the pic. It sort of has a common tone with the yellow in the dial. I am going to try some daytime picture... 

Horrors. How long have you had your GS? In your opinion, what's the best and worst thing about it? - SJX

Least is definitely that it does not have a screw down crown with better water resistance. I might normally complain about the luminous hands, or lack there of, but the finish is flawless so I think luminous would mess it up.

I agree the lack of screw down crown is a minus, but given this watch was originally designed to be on a leather strap I think that is acceptable. The bracelet GS models typically do have screw down crowns. I see a second GS somewhere in my future. - SJX

buckle and band after? What is the water resistance then? If this is true.... FSOT one amazing Grande Seiko GMT with unused original strap for a screw down model of same.......... LOL, nah I like this one. I do with the buckle would come off back order so... 

What I meant was that the GS models originally designed to have bracelets typically have screw down crowns, like the GS spring drive chronograph or the spring drive GMT. The other automatic GMT model that resembles a Rolex Explorer II also has a screw dow...

Seiko loves several lines of text on the dial. Even the simplest GS models, hand-wind time only, have quite a bit of text on the dial. - SJX

they could do away with 'grand seiko' as it has the GS logo on it. i cant really see the need for both, but a minor detail. anyway, back to the serious business. am i the only person who owns the black dial GMT? i know the ivory dial shows the detail bett...  

Thanks for the black dial pictures Graham. I much prefer the black dial because I think that the problem to differentiate between the 12 and 24 hour hands is solved better. When I glance at the white dial I am sure that I would sometimes mistake the 24 fo...

Bernard, could you clarify which is the best dial colour please. your post was straight after my black dial pics so i have a slight smile on my face and i want it to stay there. i'll get it out in a minute and stroke it gently with a cloth if you say 'bla... 

The dial color of SJX 's watch is a off white to cream, with which on our very bright Asian tropical sun, seems to have a distinct advantage in aesthetic, to me at least. However, in Europe and in Los Angeles, I noticed that dark dials, especially the UN ... 

Geographically designed dials, perhaps even charge more for Northern hemisphere dials since those economies are richer. - SJX
