I had to dig out the tux this weekend for a big soire. That meant dusting off my old Patek and slipping it under those tight French cuffs. I'm happy to say it's keeping very good time after 4 days running. I have others that qualify - thin, dressy, no da...

Black tie events used to be such a chore. As you say: you have to juggle studs, starched shirts and links; tie the bow tie, fit the cummerbund and generally swelter for most of the evening unless or until the signal is given to remove jackets. Oh: and oft...  

The Patek was undoubtedly a perfect choice. The lovely patina, especially, is a fitting touch (in some circles, as you know, the ultimate in style is to wear a vintage tux, or tails, lovingly kept in great condition by their owner or even previous generat...

splendid and gracious looking Hotel. I remembered the Hotel immediately after you posted the name and the picture. We stayed in beautiful Carlsbad ( home to high tech. golf research centres eg. Callaway ) over Christmas 1992 with our then young children ,...

Your post reminds me of a Breguet ad campaign from a few years ago that cited the Breguet name in literary history. I believe the passage was something like: " a dandy on the boulevards... Strolling at leisure, until his Breguet, ever vigilant, reminds hi... 

It is not often that you have a gala to attend so it is always special. And you get to wear your shinny patent leather shoes. But I stay on the conservative side no funny shoe with a bow that looks like a slipper. I can't pull that off. Hope to see you in...
