Certainly for new watches I believe that the AD route is the way to go -- brings real peace of mind, and I do like to support the good folks who go to the trouble and expense of stocking watches and providing useful information.
On my two online grey market pieces, the first was a discontinued item and the second was being purchased for me by my wife and I wanted to find the lowest price for her. At the end of the day I think I've gained more from ADs than I've paid in return!
