I think part of the reason is that round forms are subliminally expansive, so while I feel comfortable wearing my vintage round watches, there's a finite limit beyond which I feel a round watch is out of proportion with my wrist; by contrast, a rectangular form has boundaries that make it easier for the eye to absorb, so I don't feel nearly as uncomfortable wearing a nominally larger watch like my Karrees . . . cordially, Art
