One Correction (?)
I believe the movement inside the IWC is a modified Valjoux based on the 7700 line (certainly the positioning of the subdials seems to confirm this). So it fails whatever "home grown" test one might want to apply....for what it's worth.
My choice among all these would be VC or JLC for dress and Rolex for sport. The Piguet 1185 inside VC chronographs (including my Royal Eagle as well as Malte and Overseas pieces) has such a complicated lineage (originally the "Piquet" or AP...or whatever....i.e., a manufacturer on its own for, among others, AP and VC....followed by its purchase by Blancpain/Swatch......) that if anybody can explain whether this makes the movement a "JLC", an AP, an VC, a BP or a Swatch, then I tip my hat to you! But in the end, this strikes me as splitting hairs.
