Perks or Prices, what do you prefer?
Many of us have been collecting, buying from ADs all these years, and we all get some "friendly", "family" pricing [don't use discounts, it's a bad word 
) ]
Recent years, I see the rise of boutiques and watch brands starting to involve in direct retailing, and mostly prices are quite firm. It's luxury business, understandable. [ we don't discuss pricing here ) ]
) ]However, when you read about the exclusive events and visits from some of our members here, recently a very nice Vacheron Constantin's Colorado event, Lange's Manufacture visits, nice gifts from our HK friend's Patek's Beijing Maison's gift, and countless dinners and lunches from Singapore retailers/boutiques, they look fantastic.
I started to think:
What do I want? Do you like to get invited to events, some all paid for or just price accommodations, with the savings enough to enjoy your own trip?
Personally, I prefer to buy from boutiques and be part of the events, but they can be "dangerous" or "poisonous" to your wallet. If you buy from AD, get a good price and get invited, that's even better!
What kind of events are there by each brand do we know?
Anyone attended any events organized by which brands to share?

There's not much watch dealers here in Oregon area. You got the best of both, but of course you have to be your AD's "preferred" guest. Rgds Raymond

there are not much discounts or rebates in some regions, mainly because of competition. In Asia, yes, and surprisingly some big retailers start by 15~20% off MSRP. You've been to Singapore, so no surprises, right? You will get more special or hard to get ...

Like Hour Glass, Sincere, Cortina etc. Also, Patek just reopened their Singapore boutique, largest in Asia I think, so should have many pieces now. Rgds Raymond

Yes, getting acquainted with AD is a good idea.

Haha! One of the reasons that I have not attended any events is to avoid being influenced. :)
This time is a Moser event. Since I've already had a Moser watch, I think it will be safe for me to attend. But I don't know what will happen to the two friends that I invited to go with me. Cheers, Luis
