Pretty much the same regarding internet presence (or lack thereof).
I used to occasionally post on TZ, but it’s been several years since my last foray there. I also had (have?) a Hodinkee account, but again, inactive.
Never on FB, IG, etc., although I do keep tabs on a few industry-related Twitter feeds (no log in).
I’m down to a somewhat neglected LinkedIn account and this place 🙂.

It’s a shame, but once Richard Paige, Walt Odets and the rest of the early mob left TZ
it’s only been a platform for press releases … not much substantive discussion. The personal threats against Walt for the Explorer piece I’m sure had a chilling effect.

And bravo for that! Timezone's moderation is a very special... Um... Thing. I think a lot of people have had bad experiences there (myself included).

I think most of these other websites became a tool to sell and therefore they just look at their content as a way to sell or advertise, if it doesn’t fit the narrative then they will delete or remove you Here even sometimes posts gets removed for violatin...
I also fell victim to TZ’s overzealous moderation.
Years ago, I posted an honest question regarding a Mark XV I owned at the time. I guess the brand forum moderator objected to something I was asking or perhaps implying and removed my post.
I have no knowledge of TimeZone's business practices, but can say that our sponsored forums . . .

As I recall, I had a question as to whether an AR coated crystal could have been a replacement. This was troubling as I thought the watch was new. To this day I don’t know as I never got an answer. To your point, I would NEVER expect that sort of reaction...

It’s funny, none of us have lost sleep over having been treated questionably, yet we haven’t forgotten, either. Perhaps there’s a lesson to be learned here for Internet forum tyrants in the making.

Agreed! There are some good ones out there!
Many are WatchProSite alumni too! But yes, the ones with the widest audiences are generally pandering to the masses - and the masses are NOT the super knowledgeable and technically inclined individuals like the audience on WPS.

When it comes to magazines, I find Watches by SJX to always provide the highest quality news and reviews
