I believe it means . . .
. . . first quality [1/Q], and was displayed on Glashütte watches with GUB chronometer movements in the '60s. Does the word 'chronometer' appear on the dial? Cordially, Art

that is one very nice and hard to find GUB
i'm still on the lookout for one dating from 1964, but dating is hard. i've just picked up a Junghans chronometer which is a very similar watch. if this is now your watch get it serviced and wear it. you wont see many other like it. best Graham
